In my boredom, I've begun to find out about some things I never knew about. For example, Google Arts and Culture. On Google Arts and Culture, there are virtual tours of over 2,000 museums, and usually a description about the piece of art work or relic you're looking at. There's also the option of looking at it in a different view, like you're walking through the museum.
Anyway, here are a few of my favorite museums I've toured so far to get you started on your art connoisseur way of life:
The State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg
This museum is especially cool if you're into some pretty classical artwork. Now, I'm no art expert, so, when I say classical I might be in the wrong on it's actual definition when it comes to art. Either way, the art here is definitely super cool to take a look at.
A few of my favorites are Flying Demon by Mikhail Vrubel (1899), Parade Celebrating the end of military action in the kingdom of Poland on Tsaritsa Meadow in St. Petersburg on 6 October 1831 (1833-1837) by Grigory Chernetsov, Thaw by Fyodor Vasilyev (1871), and Reapers by Alexei Venetsianow.
The State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg also has a very cool wood collection that I recommend you check out while your on your virtual tour.
Palace of Versailles
The Palace of Versailles has so much stuff to look at, and it could easily take you a whole day to sit down and look at what they've got and read the descriptions. So, here's a few of my favorite things from this museum:
The Illumination of Belvédère of Petit Trianon by Claude-Louis Châtelet caught my eye because the color scheme was different enough to stand out from the paintings surrounding it.
Another one that I loved was the Capture of the City and Citadel of Grand in Six Days. It was painted by Charles Le Brun.
The Armillary Sphere is another thing I recommend you check out.
The British Museum
From mummies to jewelry to art, this museum has it all. I actually never knew about online museum tours before, but The British Museum was one I had on my bucket list to explore, so I was excited by this.
The Shabti box and figures of Henutmehyt decorated with funerary scenes, the Mummy of Katebet, The Flood Tablet relaying the tale of the Epic of Gilgamesh, and Hokusai's The Great Wave are one's to check out.
Another thing to check out is the Rosetta Stone.
A few more museums I found entertaining, because I haven't had time to check them all out, are the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington, DC, the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Opéra national de Paris, and the Doge's Palace in Venice, Italy.
Honestly, there are so many different museums for you to check out using just Google. Happy hunting!
