With a lot of us stuck at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, you may be bored out of your mind and wondering what to do. In this post I'll give you a few ideas to pass the time and hopefully make it more bearable.
1. Go outside. Some people may think that self-isolation involves staying indoors and hiding from the rest of the world, but you can still self-isolate and go outdoors. If you're like me, you like to constantly be doing something and being stuck inside can kind of put a damper on your mood. In the morning you can take a long walk, either by yourself or with the family or friends that you live with or even just your dog, and later on you can go on a run or jog if that's your thing. Getting outdoors and taking in the fresh air and vitamin D will make you feel less isolated and make you feel less stressed in these turbulent times.

2. Learn something new. Learning something new won't only help you to combat boredom now, but it can also come in handy later. Plus, in today's world, there are so many resources that are either free or cheap for you to choose from, and on a variety of subjects. Here are some I've found that seem reliable:
Coursera offers many free courses and classes for you to take on a variety of subjects.quite a few of these courses are also accredited by Ivy League universities. I may even end up taking one of these myself during this time. The link to that website is:
Another website/app you can use is Duolingo. Duolingo is a great way to get you started on learning a language and it's a productive use of your time. The link is below:
There are also many lessons or lectures on youtube or other sites as well. I have used youtube time and time again to teach myself piano and also do vocal lessons when I wasn't able to do in-person ones.
3. Try doing some yoga or work out. Not only is exercise healthy in general, but it will help you kill time and get fit. Also, exercise can be a huge stress relief.

4. Read. Reading a good book will take you at least a day, and, if you're like me, you normally don't have time to sit down and just read. This time in isolation gives you time to do what you normally can't. Here's some I recommend:
Stephen King's The Shining
Stephen Kings's The Dark Half
Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried
Eric Maria Remarque's All Quiet on the Western Front
5. Make art. Pull out your pens, pencils, and paint, and create something new. Who knows what you will make!
6. Rearrange and clean your room or house. You know those cute lights you got two Christmases ago, but never hung up? And that giant pile of dirty clothes that needs to be washed? Well, now's your time! Set aside a day or two to rearrange, clean, and decorate your room. You'll feel good and get all that stuff you never had time for done! Plus, now you'll put those cute lights to use, and maybe even hand up some art you made too!

7. Binge watch a new show. There are a lot of streaming services now a days including Hulu, Netflix, Youtube, and even Disney+. Now's a great opportunity to sit back and relax and enjoy time with family (or alone) and binge that series you've been wanting to watch for weeks. If you're not sure what to watch here are a few suggestions from me:
The Office
That '70s Show
Gilmore Girls
Lost in Space
Riverdale
Impractical Jokers
Grey's Anatomy
The Walking Dead
Friends
And some movies for extra measure:
The Lost Boys
Teen Wolf
The Lord of the Rings
The Notebook
Hacksaw Ridge
IT
Harry Potter Series
The Longest Yard
Radio
8. Play a game. Play video games or board games you have laying around the house to pass the time. It'll make a good activity to get everyone in the house involved and keep everyone entertained- at least for a while.

While this coronavirus kind of sucks, it gives us an opportunity to sit back and do the things we normally don't have time for. If we use it wisely we'll be able to use this time as a refresher and a change from our everyday lives and routines.
